Our BIG event… The ECF Monster Middle & Olympic sponsored by PWR+ promise an “iconic” river swim, a flat and fast bike through sleepy Cambridgeshire villages and a challenging but great run through the City in the shadow of the historic Ely Cathedral.
These events are sold out with a great mix of triathletes taking part. From newcomers to the sport to GB age groupers. Plus the race is well supported with a generous prize fund from Eastern Counties Finance and PWR+. Such support is key for ensuring that a top quality race like this on the UK calendar attracts an elite field, we have pro triathletes taking part who will battle for the podium places and the prizes!
Now in its fourth year, this race truly is a sight to see after all its not every day that Ely has 450 lycra clad athletes pounding the streets! Pop along and give the athletes a cheer, they will appreciate the boost. Transition is based on Jubilee Gardens and the finish line is on Cherry Hill.
We are getting set for the weekend here at Monster HQ. You may have noticed the pink advance warning signs pop up in Ely advising that a triathlon is taking place this Sunday. These signs are put up at the request of the Council to warn local residents and alert drivers. Many more signs will go up this weekend. These are for the athletes and public’s safety. We ask that these are not removed. They will be taken down as soon after the event as possible, please leave them in place. Also, please note on Sunday the following roads will be closed between 8am and 4pm; High Street, Dolphin Lane, Fore Hill and Market Place.
