Winning Weekend for Ely

A winning weekend for Ely Netball Club, as four of their five teams competed in the Cambridge & District Netball League.

Ely 5 played Little Thetford, with the opposition first on the scoreboard but Ely were quick to reply with an impressive shooting display by Emma Woolman and Claire Walker taking Ely ahead.  Despite a fourth quarter comeback by Little Thetford, Ely 5 held on to take the win 50-43. Claire Walker was named Player of the Match.

Ely 4 played Over 2 with an impressive opening quarter taking Ely ahead from the start.  Outstanding support in defence by Cara Lewis and on the wings from Alex White and Natalie Eddison, saw Ely 4 secure the win 37-15.    Goal Shooter, Sam Long, was named Player of the Match.

Ely 5 and Ely 4 are currently in joint first place in Division 5, with Ely 5 on a bigger goal difference.

Meanwhile, in Division 2 the first intra-club fixture took place with Ely 1 playing Ely 2, ending in a well-earned draw 25-25, with sharing of points.
