WVC Donation to Ely Foodbank

At WVC, we wanted to help Ely Foodbank at this critical time of year and spread a little Christmas cheer.

Our House Managers came up with the idea of a Reverse Advent Calendar where students donate food, toiletries and gifts in the lead up to the end of term.

For their generosity, students were rewarded with a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) which equates to house points for their House. All RAK’s were entered into a prize draw where one winner from each House received a Cineworld voucher.

We were absolutely blown away with the amount of donations made and our hope of spreading a little cheer has grown to a large amount of cheer, exceeding our expectations by far.

Cathy Wright, Manager of Ely Food Bank visited the college to accept our donation, which was handed over by our House Captains. She was delighted to see the massive array of food, goodies and toiletries donated.

The Foodbank had suggested festive items that the students could bring in and the donations will now go to local families.

Our House Managers intend to set this up as an annual event given the success this year.
