Ely Museum Hard Hat Tour

On Saturday 30th November 2019, Daniel Block volunteer and friend of Spotted in Ely, went on a Hard Hat Tour of Ely Museum.

He took lots of photographs for us, as it’s an exciting time for the Museum as it undergoes its Heritage Lottery Fund refurbishment.

“I had the pleasure of attending a hard-hat tour of the building works at Ely Museum.

Hosted by museum curator Elie Hughes and representatives from building contractors Carters, we were shown around the site and had the chance to see the ongoing improvements to the museum.

It was very odd to see the musuem with missing walls and exposed floorboards! Elie even showed us some interesting artefacts discovered when digging into the ground beneath the building! We were shown upstairs and downstairs, where rooms are being moved, expanded and drastically altered.

It will be very interesting to return to the site in a few months to see the progress of this exciting project.”
