Littleport Station car parking spaces to double from tomorrow

Littleport commuters are in for a pre-Christmas treat, with 79 new car parking spaces opening at the station tomorrow (Friday, December 22).

Parking facilities in the village will be doubled as a result, with residents able to use the new spaces from 8.30am.

East Cambridgeshire District Councillor Bill Hunt, assisted by Littleport Councillors David and Christine Ambrose-Smith, Jo Webber and Paul Cox, will officially open the car park and present the first customer with a bottle of Champagne to celebrate.
Cllr Hunt said: “This is a fantastic addition for Littleport Train station and we are thrilled to have been able to fulfill this promise to residents before the end of 2017.”
He said it was a key priority to encourage commuters off the A10 and provide viable alternatives. He also hopes it will entice more people to live in Littleport.
“It is also important that we provide the facilities for those wanting to travel via the new Cambridge North station and the pending Cambridge South station.”
Prices for the new car park will remain fixed until at least May 2019.
Councillor David Ambrose-Smith said: “This is great news for Littleport and the whole of East Cambridgeshire. We are thrilled to have been able to deliver this for residents before Christmas and look forward to seeing locals and visitors make the most of it”.
The car parking area will also soon benefit from new bike racks and additional planting, both of which are expected to be complete in the New Year.
